The new £60 million 11 storey, 220,000 sq. ft. headquarters for Admiral Insurance that will accommodate 3,000 staff and is being built in the middle of Cardiff by Sir Robert McAlpine is sending its sub-contractors to SEQOHS Accredited Workare Ltd for their medical fitness certification.
Lorainne Jenkins, MD of Workare which is based in Bridgend said “We are absolutely delighted that McAlpine has the confidence to refer all their subcontractors to us for fitness medicals. There is an increasing tendency now for main contractors to insist that their sub-contractors are fit to carry out the work on site. You don’t want a height worker that suffers with dizzy spells do you!
We have been seeing subcontractors on major works projects for many years starting with Morrison’s construction 5 years ago, Costain Group on its Llantwit Fadre and Port Talbot road developments and now Sir Robert McAlpine’s Admiral building. It would appear that our reputation is gathering momentum and we don’t know who is going to telephone us next.
Workare Ltd is based in Bridgend, on Waterton Industrial Estate and was the first Occupational Health Company in Wales to be accredited by the Construction Industry. It has also now gained the new Quality Award for Occupational Health Providers -SEQOHS - and again is the first company in Wales to be awarded this. “Its an honour to be associated with such a prestigious construction company and we look forward to a continuing relationship”. Said Lorainne
