Get in gear for the Fifth Annual Kids In Distress Spin-A-Thon

To recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, Kids In Distress (KID) of Broward and Palm Beach counties, a licensed nationally accredited agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family, and care and treatment of abused and neglected children will be one of the beneficiaries of the Fifth-Annual Spin-a-Thon on April 19, 2013 presented by the Marine Industry Cares Foundation.

“Stabilizing families is the cornerstone of healthy, economically viable, and safe neighborhoods and communities. I am constantly amazed to see how much this event energizes the community in support of our cause. KID would like to thank everyone for this incredible support, as the Spin-A-Thon positively and directly impacts the lives of many children,” said Mark Dhooge, President/CEO of Kids In Distress.

Teams of cycling enthusiasts will ride for 360 consecutive minutes on more than 100 spinning bikes that overlook the New River. Registration kicks off at noon and the riding begins at 1 p.m. at Esplanade Park, 400 S.W. 2nd Street in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Cost is $300 per team for bike registration and teams are encouraged to raise additional funds. The after party begins at 5 p.m.

“I strongly urge everyone to visit these incredible organizations, see their facilities and the tough but wonderful work they are undertaking. You will be changed forever,” said Mole Telfer, Chairman of the Marine Industry Cares Foundation.
