Charter School empowers community to help fight childhood obesity, Hosts free Fitness event



San Diego 1st Annual Fitness and field day will take place on Saturday 11 may 2013 a from 10: 30 am to 12: 30. Hosted by Empower Charter School, this event will be launched to the community along with a variety of free, fun, fitness activities for the whole family to enjoy. This all-volunteer effort is to create awareness for Empower Charter School, a free, public school, which is unique in its focus on fitness and health and strives to be a community resource to rest of parents and children in today's era of rampant childhood obesity.

"Childhood obesity affects 1 in 3 children ...", says Jessica Muto, Secretary for Empower Charter School, "while most schools have cut PE, we plan to integrate into our fitness and health curriculum. We carry this free event show people that they can communicate and have fun with their families, outdoors, and they don't need fancy equipment to be active and have fun with their children-much like our school will teach. "


Empower Charter School to submit plans for approval of its application to San Diego Unified School District in Fall 2013 with a plan to open in Fall 2014. They offer an immersion in the Spanish and innovative curriculum for children in grades kindergarten through 5. Their goal is to empower the genius and super hero in each child.
