Vibram FiveFingers Introduces The Bikila

The Bikila is the first model in the Vibram Fivefingers collection designed specifically for minimalist running. Named after the double Olympic marathon champion, Abebe Bikila, famous for winning a gold medal while running barefoot, this model is a breakthrough product that encourages a more natural, healthier, and more efficient forefoot strike, unlike any other running shoe on the market today.

The Bikila features a new Dri-Lex® covered 3mm polyurethane insole (thickest under the ball) and a 4mm anatomical pod outsole design that offers more plating protection to reduce the risk of stone-bruising. It also distributes forefoot impact without compromising important ground feedback essential to a proper forefoot strike running form to enhance performance and enjoyment; while reducing risk of injury. A more athletic padded collar and a single hook and loop closure helps provide comfort and security around the foot.

The Vibram Fivefingers Bikila is the best choice of footwear for running whether you’re looking to cover a marathon, incorporate minimalist running into your training or transitioning for the first time.

Fitting Tips for FiveFingers® Bikila

1. With the single strap fully open, insert your foot while gradually aligning each toe with the appropriate toe pocket – it’s often best to start with your big toe and work down to the little toe, gradually inching forward as each toe finds its place. Check to make sure one toe is in each pocket.

2. AFTER each toe is in place, pull up the heel cup and nestle your own heel into the FiveFingers heel cup. It’s important to get your heel firmly seated in the heel cup.

3. Pull the single strap closure across your instep and secure. Make sure the strap lies flat as it wraps around the foot. Wiggle your toes and adjust the strap to find your ideal comfort.
