Building Home Fitness Gym

We have ever heard so many horror stories from people about trying to set up a home fitness gym but it going awry because they did not properly plan their home gym out. Learning from their mistakes before making our own is priceless. Below is a list of the top five most common errors people make when building home fitness gyms and how to rectify them.

+ Measure twice minimum. After having selected where we are going to build home fitness gym, map out the area by measuring it at least two times. Do not forget to measure the height to the ceiling, especially when we are building a home gym in a basement. Some times people purchase machines that are too big for their space and especially too tall.


+ Do not forget the basics. Expensive multi gyms are great to have, but so many people forget the basics that are essential for any home fitness gym. Dumbbells are important to work the stabilizer muscles that gym machines do not. Resistance bands are great to have along with a yoga mat for stretching at the end of a workout.


+ Cardio or no cardio. It is important to think in advance what kind of fitness gym we want. Are we looking to lose weight or build muscle? Cardio machines tend to be larger than other machines, so if losing weight is not top of our priority we may want to skip the treadmill or elliptical.

+ Be careful. Setting up own gym at home is fun and exciting, but it is up to us to take care of ourselves. While at the gym there are trainers and other employees to give us assistance and plan our workout, we are in charge of our fitness future in our own fitness gym. If we are nervous about that, we can always hire a consultant or a free lance trainer to come and show us how to best use our fitness gym equipment.

+ Do not forget the tunes. Now that we have our own space for a gym, we should set some speakers up to play whatever music we want. We know musicmotivates us a lot while working out, but my headphones would always get in the way at the gym. It is great when we set up home fitness gym and be able to queue up the music we want without worrying about wires.
