Celebrity Trainer Cara Castronuova to host Fitness Fundraising Event

In an effort to raise awareness of healthy lifestyle choices and combat obesity, Celebrity fitness expert, NBC’s Biggest Loser trainer and Motivational Speaker Cara Castronuova proudly announces the creation of her charity, KnockOut Obesity, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to fitness empowerment for women and adolescents.

The launch event in celebration of KnockOut Obesity will be the first annual Dance-a-Thin™, a fitness fundraising festivity, on Saturday June 1st, on the campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY from 7pm-11pm.  All proceeds will benefit KnockOut Obesity and help send local NY children to fitness camp this summer.

"I'm psyched for this event, it’s going to be so much fun. Plus all the proceeds will send kids to camp, so the spirit will be very positive,” stated Castronuova.  “I love freestyle dancing as a workout because it is so freeing, and empowering.  So I want everyone to come prepared to let loose!"

Dance-a-Thin™ welcomes attendees of varied rhythmic ability, from beginners to experts, to show off their moves during the dance-off, segments of which will be led by professional dancers from a myriad of technique such as Broadway, belly dancing and others.  The festivities will also include a “pink-carpet” entrance, relaxation and massage stations, contests, door prizes and much more!

A range of celebrities, professional athletes, public figures and health professionals will be in attendance to help support this worthwhile cause such as Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum (Preventative Cardiologist, Mount Sinai Hospital; Women & Heart Disease Advocate), and Rachel Russo (Celebrity Matchmaker). Many other exciting guests to be announced soon!

During the event, Castronuova will also present the debuting Woman Warrior Award™ to select women of outstanding character and integrity that embody the spirit of a true woman warrior and empower women and girls everywhere.

“Dance-a-Thin™ is all about having fun and it doesn't matter the dance experience," says Castronuova. “The goal is for everyone to have fun and raise money for children, all at the same time."

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.  For tickets and event information, please visit knockoutobesityfoundation.com and caracastronuova.com.

Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Tabs My Sports Dreams as Fundraising Partner

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced today that it has named My Sports Dreams as an official fundraising partner. Specializing in working with college and scholastic athletic programs nationwide, My Sports Dreams will provide Jayhawk member teams with the ability to raise significant sums of money for operating expenses without requiring student-athletes to sell products.

Organized in 1923, the Jayhawk Conference is one of the NJCAA’s most prolific. Its 19 member institutions have won more than 100 National Championships in 12 different sports, and hundreds of former Jayhawk athletes have gone pro in their respective sports.

“The KJCCC is the home of some of the best competition at the junior college level, but like most small schools, our members have been hit hard by the state of the economy,” said KJCCC Commissioner Bryce Roderick. “We feel that My Sports Dreams will help our programs continue to run at a high level and make our conference one of the best in the nation.”

My Sports Dreams is already familiar to many athletic programs in the Jayhawk State. Both the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association and the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches endorse the company and its “product-less” approach to raising money.

"Community college athletics may not have the ‘big-time’ rep of their NCAA counterparts, but those programs are just as vital to the development of student-athletes,” said Tom Hess, Vice President of Sales at My Sports Dreams. “We’re looking forward to helping the teams of the KJCCC and the outstanding young men and women attending these institutions.”

My Sports Dreams Unveils New Digital Fundraising Strategy

My Sports Dreams has now made it even easier for teams to launch a student-driven fundraising campaign.
Using My Sports Dreams’ new online digital system, athletes will be able to complete their part of the campaign in less than a half-hour’s time from any computer.

My Sports Dreams will set up a new secure team web page for each client. Coaches will get the link and forward it to their student-athletes, who will log onto the site to input contact names and addresses so My Sports Dreams can print, sign, and mail their sponsorship letters.

“We take care of most of the legwork, making it even easier than ever for coaches to get their campaigns done,” said Jordan Kern, My Sports Dreams Co-Founder and VP of Marketing.

The “on-demand” printing system will allow My Sports Dreams to get their mailers out within 48 hours after contacts are entered.

The new system is also much more in tune with coaches’ needs, as My Sports Dreams will keep them updated on the status of each athlete’s progress – allowing them to prevent procrastination.

“The ability to raise money over the summer can also be a huge benefit to any team, especially those who play in the fall,” said Tom Hess, My Sports Dreams VP of Sales. “With this digital system, they can complete their campaign and reap the rewards before the new school year even begins!”
